Body wraps date back to ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, where they were used to detoxify, nourish and soften the skin, while also removing excess fat from the body.
Evolving over the years, body wraps have now become one of the top spa treatments that offer cosmetic and therapeutic benefits for the entire body.
However, many women don’t really know what a body wrap treatment is and how exactly it benefits the skin.
Understanding How Body Wraps Work
A body wrap is a brilliant way to treat yourself from head to toe. This treatment offers amazing beauty benefits, including slimming, deep moisturization and ultimate relaxation.
The treatment is done by blending various natural ingredients such as oils, mud, seaweed, and clay, that help draw out excess fluids and toxins from your skin, while restoring nutrients to the body. The ingredients can be customized as per individual skin needs.
Different types of body wraps are available to combat specific skin concerns. All types employ a large emphasis on moisturizing, healing and conditioning your skin.
What Happens During A Body Wrap?
Your body wrap session begins with exfoliation and gentle scrubbing, to help remove dirt, impurities and dead skin cells.
The scrubbing process also helps in improving blood circulation, that further aids in smooth elimination of toxins from your body. The exfoliation process is then followed by a shower and application of the body wrap product.
Once the product is on, you’re wrapped to stay warm for approximately 20 minutes. During this time, you can either choose to stay alone or benefit from the luxury of a scalp massage.
Post this, you are unwrapped and the body mask is removed. You can either take a shower or the therapist will rinse you off with a handheld shower. The process ends with the therapist applying a lotion to moisturize your skin.
